GE Connect Series: why the inverter units keep selling out

The three best-selling pieces of equipment at our Winder counter are all the same family: the GE Connect Series side-discharge inverter heat pumps in 2, 3 and 4/5 ton. If you have not put one in yet, here is the short version.

Where they win

  • Tight side yards. Side discharge means the unit can sit closer to the wall than a top-discharge condenser, which solves a lot of retrofit clearance problems without a crane or a pad relocation.
  • Variable capacity without a communicating thermostat. The inverter modulates on its own. You can run a conventional stat and still get the part-load efficiency.
  • Quiet. Homeowners notice, and it is the thing that gets you the referral.

Where they do not

They are not a fix for a bad duct system. An inverter running long and low against undersized returns will still short-cycle on static. Measure first.

All three sizes are stocked. Availability moves fast — call ahead if you need one staged for the morning.
